CALL TO WORSHIP: (Based on Revelation 7:10-12)

Salvation comes from God.
LET US WORSHIP GOD
Praise! GLORY!
Wisdom! THANKSGIVING!
Honour! POWER AND MIGHT!
Belong to our God.
FOR EVER AND EVER. AMEN.

OFFERTORY: (Based on Revelation 7:12)
Our God, you have given us so much, our lives, your love, your Son.
We want to worship you.
To give you the praise, glory, thanksgiving you deserve.
We worship you with our offerings,
We worship you with our lives.
Take and use them and us,
To lead the whole world to worshipping you
And offering praise, glory, thanksgiving.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER OF PRAISE:
Lord, Good Shepherd, I praise you for you take care of me.
You tend me, you nurture me,
You give me everything I need.
I am able to rest in your love.
I am fed in your love.
I am refreshed by your deep pools.
When I am tired and weary, you give me new strength.
When life gets difficult, you show me the way through, as you have promised.
When everything looks black I will not be afraid.
For you are with me.
You protect me, reassure me, and keep me going.
And when things seem to be getting out of control.
When I feel I can't take any more.
Your love carries me.

Lord, Good Shepherd, you make me feel so special
Your love overwhelms me.
Its like being at a banquet with wonderful food piled high
With fine wines overflowing
And I am the honoured guest.
Me.
Because you love me.

Lord, Good Shepherd, I know that your goodness and love will be with me
All the days of my life.
And that I always have a home with you.
You tend me, you nurture me,
You give me everything I need.
I praise you. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND INTERCESSION
(Using part of a prayer by Moira Laidlaw)

Forgive us, O God, for the times when we put our own comfort first and fail to reach out and accompany those who are going through difficult times - those who feel imprisoned in a valley of shadows and find themselves overwhelmed by life.
We pray for the lonely, the depressed...
For those who have just heard bad news...
For those who are juggling family, work and relationships and feel that they just can't cope....
For those whose lives are particularly stormy and are feeling battered and bruised...
For those who feel that their body or their mind are letting them down and feel frustrated and frightened for the future...

Jesus, good shepherd, help us to take the time and make the space to hear your call to us. The call to reveal your love, compassion and comfort wherever you need us to bind up the wounds of the victims of today's society.

Forgive us, O God, for looking forward to good food later while ignoring the plight of those whose circumstances deprive them of what we might regard as basic necessities of life - food and shelter.
We pray for the people of Sudan, where people are dying horribly, and efforts to help are frustrated....
For people who have been made homeless through the storms that have battered the world this year...
For people who have been made homeless through the wars that have battered the world this year...
We pray for the approaching Christian Aid Week and for the Jubilee 2000 movement, trying to bring an end to debt and a beginning t hope in many countries.

Jesus, good shepherd, help us to take the time and make the space to hear your call to us. The call to reveal in tangible and authentic ways, your passion for those who feel powerless to make any changes for good in their lives.

Forgive us, O God, for enjoying the benefits of your goodness and mercy in our lives while exercising judgmental or unmerciful attitudes towards other people.
We pray for people who are rejected by society because of the way they look...
the colour of their skin....
the level of their ability....
We pray for those who are hurting because of the unkind or cruel actions of others.....

Jesus, good shepherd, help us to take the time and make the space to hear your call to us.

The call to empty ourselves of all that is contrary to your life within us so that your goodness and mercies are enjoyed not as rewards to be hoarded but as gifts to be shared.

We pray for our flock, our friends and family, especially those who need to be cradled in the Shepherds arms today.
Jesus, good shepherd, help us to take the time and make the space to hear your call to us. To love and care even more than we do now.

We know that in so many ways we go astray like sheep, but through Jesus we have been returned to the shepherd and guardian of our souls.
The good news therefore is this: In Jesus Christ we are sought, we are found, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
