Prayers of Approach...

Creator God, We take this day, as a special day, to celebrate the goodness of the world you have made, the world you sustain. The world teems with life and is filled with beauty, celebrating its creator. You have breathed your life into each one of us, made us in your image, called us to be your children. We rejoice, and we are glad.

Saviour God, We take this day, as a special day, to celebrate Jesus' rising from the dead. With joy in our hearts we can proclaim that he is risen! He shared our life and suffered our death so that we might share his life and his rising - conquering death. Because he lives, we too shall live! We rejoice, and we are glad.

God-with-us, We take this day, as a special day, to celebrate the coming of your Spirit, for you are not a God above and beyond us, but with us and in us. Your Spirit within us, we have a measure of your love, of your joy, of your peace, of your power to live as your children in the world. We rejoice, and we are glad.

God of every day, We take this day as a special day, forgive us when we take it as the only day to rejoice and be glad in all you have given, for Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday, Wednesday and Saturday are your days too. Help us to live as your children all the days of our lives. Amen.

Confession...

We come to the living God: with all our faults & failings.
We come to the living God: to say we are sorry.
We come to the living God: wanting to make a fresh start.
We come to the living God: who receives us as we are and tells us to go and sin no more.
We come to the living God: who helps us to live according to the law of Christ, the law of love. We come to the living God: let his grace strengthen and encourage you, and be assured that your                                           sins are forgiven:
Thanks be to the living God, Amen.

Offertory prayer...

O God: Enlarge my heart, that it may be big enough to reveive the greatness of your love. Stretch my heart, that it may take into it all those who with me around the world believe in Jesus christ. Stretch it, that it may take into it all those who do not know him, but who are my responsibility because I know him. And stretch it that it may take in all those who are not lovely in my eyes, and whose hands I do not want to touch; through Jesus Christ, my saviour, Amen.

Prayers of Intercession:

Above any government and sovereignty, above the riot police and the tanks, above vested interests and corruption, above political establishments, above all things - the reign of Christ.

Lord, we were going to do something about poverty, about hunger, ignorance and disease, about the chains of debt, but it was all too much for us, beyond our giving and our understanding.

Lord, we were going to do something about violence, about the arms race, nuclear weapons, and those who make a profit out of war, but we couldn't make sense of it, and we couldn't see what we should do.

Lord, we were going to do something about ecology, about the disappearance of the forests, the rare species and irreplaceable plants; but it really is very difficult, and none of us is expert in these matters.

Come, Holy Spirit, and show us what is true.

In a world of great wealth where many go hungry and fortunes are won and lost by trading in money;

Come, Holy Spirit, and show us what is true.

In a world of great knowledge where many die in ignorance and every piece of information has a price in the market-place;

Come, Holy Spirit, and show us what is true.

In a world of easy communication, where words leap between continents and we expect to see a picture to illustrate each item of the news;

Come, Holy Spirit, and show us what is true.

In a church which speaks a thousand accents, divided over doctrine, creed and ministry, more anxious for itself than for the Gospel;

Come, Holy Spirit, and show us what is true.

In a Church touched by the flame of Pentecost, moved to generous sacrifice and costly love, interpreting the will of God with new insight;

Come, Holy Spirit, and show us what is true.

Prayer of Blessing...

As we prepare to leave and embrace the challenges of our lives and our world, let us ask for God's blessing.

May God bless us with strength to seek justice. Amen May God bless us with wisdom to care for our earth. Amen May God bless us with love to bring forth new life. Amen

Go in peace and be witnesses to hope. Thanks be to God.
